This medium-sized plot located on the side of a heritage village in Renfrewshire had an old stone wall on the boundary and bordered a countryside field landscape. The client had just built an extension and needed new stair access. They also emphasised a sustainable style, which included recycled material and plants that attracted pollinators. Here's how we added whimsical beauty to this garden:
Meandering Sustainability
Introduction
Our Design Process
- We used natural clay pavers to create a meandering path through the garden.
- The main patio, with a fire pit in the middle accentuating the old stone wall, was built using sandstone slabs.
- We levelled the garden slightly using timber and corten steel retaining walls.
- Two staggered square decking platforms create sculptural access to the extension, emphasised by linear lighting.
- We applied a rustic cottage planting scheme.
