Introduction

A grand garden in Glasgow's suburbs offered limitless potential for our design team. The client requested a large main patio along the whole back of the house to make use of the new modern extension with a wide line of bifold doors. Their multi-functional garden also required a secondary sitting area and outdoor lighting somewhere else in the rear of the garden. They wanted to ensure that the new garden was made from durable materials and needed little maintenance. Discover how we found the rhythm in this back garden:

Our Design Process

  • The relatively flat garden required some terracing to level off the area.
  • A vast main patio was added a step down from the rest of the garden. Decorative black limestone blocks were used to divide the areas.
  • We incorporated a water feature into the decorative dividing steps.
  • The linear, repetitive inlays, together with an extensive lighting system, create a unique rhythm across the garden.
  • An additional sitting area with custom benches and a fire pit was added to the rear garden. An area of mature trees gives the impression of camping in the forest.
